How Leon Esports Betting markets work
Most esports matches are played as a series: best of one (BO1), best of three (BO3) or best of five (BO5). The series length decides which markets are offered. A BO1 is a single map, so there is no map handicap, while in a BO3 you can back a team at -1.5 maps (to win 2-0) or +1.5 maps (to take at least one map).
Map-level markets, such as round totals in Counter-Strike 2 or first blood in Dota 2, settle on the map named in the market, so check which map a bet refers to before you place it. Our guide to esports best-of formats explains each format in more detail.
Two ways to back the same match
| Pre-match | In-play | |
|---|---|---|
| When you bet | Any time before the first map starts | From the start of the match until the market closes |
| How prices move | Adjusted as money and roster news arrive | Repriced continuously as the match plays out |
| Markets available | The full board, including season outrights | A live subset — winner, handicap, totals, next event |
| Cash out | Available on selected markets once the match starts | Available on selected markets while prices are open |
| Best for | Planned multis and weekend cards | Reacting to what you are watching |
Think before you bet
